Carol Lee Hall was born and raised in Oakland, California. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in linguistics and immediately began a teaching career at a private school in Oakland, then San Leandro. For the next thirteen years, she taught third grade and directed the school’s drum and bell and flag corps.

Carol began freelance writing when her daughter started kindergarten and has written several articles for local newspapers, magazines and websites.  She has also written marketing brochures, newsletters, grant letters and proposals and published first book, For Those Who Serve: A Devotional for Church Volunteers released in 2004. Recently, she contributed a story about her "Secret Mentor," Janet Low, in My Spiritual Mom, compiled by Carla Williams. An article on heat exhaustion was accepted into the Incredible Prayers compilation series published by Guideposts. She also writes her own eBay ads and sells collectibles, home products, games and more.

Besides writing, Carol volunteers in various church ministries. Since she became a Christian, Carol estimates she has volunteered for about 90% of the church areas open to her such as choir, Sunday School teacher, babysitter and Vacation Bible School helper.

While she’s not writing or volunteering, Carol likes to solve crossword puzzles, play Scrabble, walk, and swim. She enjoys traveling with her family and has journeyed to Seattle, the Canadian province of Alberta, Disney’s California Adventure and Hawaii.
